General purpose systems are designed to be low cost but to also have enough power to slice just about anything you throw at it. These systems also feature some "bonus" items that help to extend the "useable life" of the system and provide a good foundation for upgrades down the road.
This system is a great combo and comes with a DVD burner w/ lightscribe, 320GB of HDD and some crazy 200 Watt speakers. The motherboard comes with on-board video and an additional empty 16x PCI Express slot. This will allow for a future video upgrade. We're limited to 2 memory slots but have included a 2GB memory kit so you can take advantage of the 2 memory channels.
Come to to think of it this system is a steal at just under 700bux!

When building a midrange system we don't suspect there will be a ton of additional hardware so we look for a board with good components onboard and then will add to it if required.
For this upgrade we're starting with a MicroATX board from Foxconn based on the Intel 945GC graphics chipset. Onboard graphics is not always the best but will be enough for any multi purpose situation.
